“That’s the common thread. Everyone I like strikes me as genuine. I don’t care if they agree or disagree with me, what their personal, social or political views are. I just want them to be their own person and not care what anyone else thinks, including me.”
I looked over at my daughter, smiled and said, “Do you have ANY interest in this at all?” “Well, the drums themselves, no,” she replied, “but it is interesting how all of the drums are different and you can describe the specific qualities of each of them. You are like E-Harmony for the drums.”
I haven’t been to all of our dealers. I’ve been to DCP obviously, SoundPure, Fork’s Drum Closet, Vic’s Drum Shop, Boston Drum Center, Memphis Drum Shop & Columbus Percussion. I’ve heard a lot about the others like Bentley’s, Drummer’s Hangout etc. Every single one of these stores has a different vibe, set by the owners generally, but they all have one thing in common: They create a really special experience for us as drummers.
For those that follow my blog postings, you know that they are essentially dispatches from a regular guy who loves the drums and got involved with Noble & Cooley to help the restore the brand to its past prominence, primarily because I am a fan of the brand. As such, I get to have experiences I would never have otherwise. That’s typically what I write about. Recently, however, I heard about another drummer who is a fan of Noble and Cooley who has his own fascinating story and unique experiences because of his love of the brand
You could be standing next to Elvis because everyone is there, checking out tons of gear, nerding out on all things drumming, and, as the Burger Meister would say, there’s noise, noise, noise!! What’s not to like?
It’s been about 18 months since I started working with and advising Noble & Cooley. It has been a fun and exciting ride so far and my expectation is it will only get more fun.
